ECCS-BIANNUAL EUROPEAN STEEL DESIGN AWARD FOR THE LEUVEN TRAIN STATION CANOPY.
After receiving the first prize in Belgium (in the category “non-residential buildings”, STAALBOUW WEDSTRIJD – CONCOURS CONSTRUCTION ACIER 2008), the railway station in Leuven (Belgium) has received a new international recognition in Barcelona with the first prize ECCS Biannual European Steel Design Award on 17th September 2009.

The European Convention for Constructional Steelwork (ECCS) is the federation of the National Associations of Steelwork industries and covers a worldwide network of Industrial Companies, Universities and Research Institutes.

The European Steel Design Awards are given by the European Convention for Constructional Steelwork (ECCS) every two years to encourage the creative and outstanding use of steel in architecture and construction. The 2009 Award winning projects of 18 European countries have been presented to an international audience in Barcelona on September 17th, 2009

Inauguration of the Office Building for IMMOBILIERE SEM
Avenue Marnix / Marnixlaan, Brussels
After one year and half work, the renovated office building situated 28 Avenue Marnix in Brussels was inaugurated one 2009-09-10. “The House of the City of Stockholm” is the main occupant of the renovated building.

The plywood façade cladding is protected from the rain by glazed louvers acting also as parapets for the balconies provided to every office space.

Second phase of the restructuring of the Brugmann Hospital Horta Site inaugurated

Three brand new standardised hospitalization wings were inaugurated on 2009-06-03. They complement the two first wings, inaugurated in 2003. The arrangement of these five new wings offer a capacity of 250 beds, with intensive care and radiology services, the central logistical area and a covered car park. The regularly spaced wings are clad with zinc. They aim at preserving Victor Horta's original architecture and function, and to create unity among the various buildings on the site.
